Turkish Citizen Kidnapped in Western Georgia
(Tbilisi, July 10, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Reports say a 26-year-old citizen of Turkey involved in the logging business, was kidnapped in Zugdidi, town in western Georgia, on July 9.
As Zugdidi Prosecutor’s Office reported, the Turkish businessman was attacked by unknown persons and then taken in the direction of a Shamgona village adjacent to the breakaway region of Abkhazia.
Georgian law enforcers suppose kidnappers are hiding in breakaway Abkhazia.
