Turkish Airlines Hold Talks with Georgian Authorities

(Tbilisi. April 10, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Turkish embassy in Tbilisi reported today that the delegation of the Turkish Airlines company arrived in Georgia on April 9 to resolve the problems with the Georgian authorities.

Today the representatives of the Turkish company hold meeting with the Chairman of the Georgian Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) Zurab Chankotadze.

The CAA restricted Turkish Airlines and British Mediterranean Airways flights in Georgia from three to two in a week till April 15, after this date the flights will be suspended.

The CAA?s decision followed Parliament?s decree approved on February 27, which says that the tax breaks for the foreign carriers are illegal as the relevant agreement with Turkey and Britain are not ratified by the Georgian Parliament.

The Turkish Airlines rejects Georgian Parliaments claims and says suspension of flights is groundless.
