Geostat: Annual Inflation 6.4% in September

Georgia’s annual inflation stood at 6.4% in September after 4.9% in the previous month, the National Statistics Office (Geostat) reported on October 3. On a monthly basis prices were up by 1.7% in September.

The annual inflation rate was driven by higher prices in the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages (up by 11.7% y/y); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (up by 14.6% y/y); transport (up by 3.9% y/y); recreation and culture (up by 6.9% y/y); and health (up by 4% y/y).

The monthly inflation rate was driven by higher prices in the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages (up by 3.3% y/y); education (up by 2.7% y/y); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (up by 1.3% y/y); and furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (up by 1.7% y/y).
