Georgian, Japanese Defense Ministers Meet in Tokyo

Georgian Defense Minister, who is visiting Tokyo, met his Japanese counterpart Gen Nakatani on November 12.

This is the first-ever official visit of a Georgian defense minister to Japan.

A memorandum of cooperation, first of this kind between the defense ministries of the two countries, was signed. According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the memorandum envisages cooperation in educational and research programs, organizing seminars and exchange of high level visits.  

“We have an opportunity to gain one more important partner for Georgia’s defense and security sector and I am deeply convinced that this meeting and memorandum that we signed will help in implementing those concrete ideas and proposals that we have discussed with the [Japanese] Defense Minister,” Khidasheli said.
