Promises not Forgotten ? Saakashvili Tells Locals in Provincial Region
President Saakashvili traveled on February 24 in the Dusheti district, where he met with local population and told them that the authorities were delivering their promises.
“I have not forgotten not a single promise I gave to you: road, water, gas, outpatient centers, schools,” he said at a live televised meeting with locals. “We have made main road here and construction of [secondary] road will start now; gas [infrastructure] has been built and now it will be delivered to households; schools have been rehabilitated.”
“I have never promised anything, delivering of which could have been impossible,” he said.
Then he asked head of the road department, Ramaz Nikoleishvili, to brief about the planned road infrastructure construction plan in the district. Saakashvili said that employment of local population on the project was essential.
Dusheti district was among those few constituencies – two others were Tbilisi and Kazbegi district – where Mikheil Saakashvili lost elections in January 5, 2008 early presidential polls.
