Romania provided humanitarian aid to Georgia

Following the recent events in Georgia, on 21 August 2008, Romania sent to the Republic of Georgia humanitarian aid amounting to 4,624 mil. RON (aprox. 1.2 mil. Euro), consisting of medical supplies from the State Reserves, medicines and medical equipment form the reserves of the Ministry of Public Health. The consignment was airlifted by a carrier provided by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, with all transport costs born by the latter.
The Romanian Embassy in Tbilisi was assigned to discharge the emergency aid to the Georgian authorities.
The emergency aid has been provided by the Romanian Government as a response to the request made by the Ministry of Foreing Affairs of Georgia.
