Reports: Man Dies in Gali Blast
Thirty-three-year-old Malkhaz Pertaia died on Monday in a hospital in Sokhumi from severe injures suffered from an explosion that occurred in the Gali district on July 27, an Abkhaz official said.
An explosive device, which according to Georgian reports, was an anti-tank mine, went off near the Tagiloni village in the Gali district.
There are conflicting reports of how many people were wounded by the blast.
Ruslan Kishmaria, the Abkhaz leader’s envoy in the Gali district, told Interfax news agency that one child was injured – currently in hospital in Gali.
According to the Georgian Public Broadcaster, two relatives of Pertaia’s – girls aged three and five years old – were injured. It reported that one of them was in hospital in Gali and the other in hospital in Zugdidi, on the Georgian side of the administrative border.
