‘Electoral Struggle Continues’ – Republicans
Republican Party leader, Davit Usupashvili, said the party would defend each vote during the crucial stage of electoral process – vote counting, which started after polling stations closed at 8pm.
He said that the party representatives in the polling stations throughout Georgia perform their duties in each precinct commission where their “life is not in danger.” “But unfortunately there have been cases when our representatives have to walk out and leave the polling stations, because they were threatened,” Usupashvili said.
He also said that the party activists will also continue struggle by filing complaints over numerous electoral violations observed during the polling day.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Central Election Commission said that cases when opposition members of the precinct election commissions were quitting the precincts had increased. Six members in each precinct commission are appointed by the opposition parties and remaining seven are pro-ruling party members. There are total of 3,558 precinct election commission throughout Georgia.
