Russian Parliament Urges Georgia to Tighten Anti-Terrorism Laws
In a resolution unanimously adopted by the Russian lower house of the Parliament State Duma on September 22, the Russian lawmakers urged their Georgian and Azerbaijani counterparts to make their anti-terrorism legislature more strict.
?[The Russian] MPs recommend that the Russian government appeal the Georgian and Azerbaijani Parliaments with a request to make counter-terrorism legislature more strict, aiming at prevention and eradication of activities by illegal armed groups committing terrorist acts,? the resolution reads.
On September 22, the Russian lawmakers also approved a plan that would allow the country to declare itself at war and impose tight restrictions on travel and the media in case of a terrorism threat.
