More Shelling Reported in South Ossetia
Georgian officials say that the South Ossetian side again opened fire overnight on September 18-19 against the Georgian village of Tamarasheni near the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali. No casualties were reported.
Georgian media sources reported that grenade-launchers were used during the shelling of Tamarasheni; as a result, several buildings in the village were damaged.
However, the South Ossetian side denied the report and accused the Georgian side of shelling suburbs of Tskhinvali.
This is the first case of shelling reported in the conflict zone since Georgian non-peacekeeping troops were pulled out from the region.
