CEC Chief Announces ‘Inaccurate’ Early Results
Chairman of the Central Election Commission Guram Chalagashvili said at a news conference that he was ready to announce very early results of elections obtained after counting ballots in the Tbilisi’s only 21 precincts.
But after listing the results, journalists noted that there was “an obvious mistake.” In the Isani districts’ six precincts, according to Chalagashvili , the National Movement garnered 92,3%; coalition of Republican and Conservative parties 15.6%, Labor Party – 15,14% and Industrialists 7,9%, which was far beyond 100%.
“Yes it really seems to be a mistake, but we will recheck it and I also want to say that we will try to provide updated information about the results every half hour,” Chalagashvili said.
He added that voter turnout in Tbilisi was 33.87% and in rest of Georgia 51,6%.
