Abkhazia Jails Woman for ‘Treason’
The Supreme Court of breakaway Abkhazia found Kistoman Iliasova guilty of high treason and sentenced her to an 11-year prison term on August 24, Apsnipress news agency reported.
Abkhaz law enforcers arrested Iliasova, 34, in Ochamchire in March 2006, charging her for secretly photographing Abkhaz “Grif” coast guard patrol boats.
According to Abkhaz prosecutors, Iliasova had been cooperating with Georgian special services since 2005 and allegedly providing them with information, including photos, on the eastern group of the Abkhaz army.
