CEC Updates Voter List

Central Election Commission (CEC) said on May 3 there were total of 3,461,851 eligible voters according to the updated voter list.

As a result of additional rechecking, the CEC said, total of 8,000 deceased, 1,000 underage persons and 27,000 names appearing in the voter list twice were removed from the list and total of 42,000 names, addresses and date of birth were corrected.

In recent days opposition politicians, mainly those running as a majoritarian MP candidates in the Tbilisi single-mandate constituencies, voiced series of accusations against the CEC claiming that the commission was reluctant to further improve voter lists.
