CEC Publishes Rechecked Voter List
The Central Election Commission (CEC) said on Monday that there were 3,473,190 eligible voters in Georgia as of February 1, 2008.
The figure, according to the final vote tally approved by the CEC on January 13, for the January 5 presidential election was 3,527,964.
The CEC said on April 14 that the voter list had been rechecked and 66,713 new names added and the names of 17,900 dead people removed.
Levan Tarkhnishvili, chairman of the CEC, said that a digital version of the voter list would be made available to all election stakeholders. Voter lists will also be posted at polling stations from April 17 and voters will be able to appeal anytime before May 5 to the election administrations if there is an inaccuracy .
The list will also be available on the CEC’s website. Voters will also be able to check to see if their names are included by calling a CEC hotline or by sending an SMS.
