UN Security Council to Discuss Abkhazia
The UN Security Council will discuss on April 14 a report of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Abkhazia.
In his recent report issued on April 4 the UN Secretary-General said that relatively stable security situation in the Abkhaz conflict zone in last few months can contribute to improving relations between the sides.
He also noted that “a period of sustained stability along the ceasefire line and in the Kodori Valley would improve the prospect of repairing the much deteriorated relationship between the two sides.”
The UN Security Council is also expected to discuss the issue of prolongation of the mandate of the UN Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) for another six months. UNOMIG’s current mandate expires on April 15.
