Opposition Coalition, New Rights May Run on Joint Ticket

Koba Davitashvili, leader of Party of People, part of the eight-party opposition coalition, has hinted that the New Rights Party would run on a joint ticket with the bloc in the May 21 parliamentary elections.

Speaking on a late-night political talk show, Primetime, aired by Rustavi 2 TV on March 31, Davitashvili said: “I am not denying that the New Rights Party is also part of the joint list.” He, however, sidestepped the anchor’s questioning on the matter, saying he was in no position to confirm anything before an expected official announcement.

New Rights Party said on Monday it would make an official statement in next few days.

Davitashvili also admitted that the bloc was having difficulty drafting an agreed joint list of MP candidates for the proportional, party-list system, saying it “was not an easy process.”
