Russia may Open Representations in Abkhazia, S.Ossetia – Daily
A change in Russia’s relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia will follow the independence of Kosovo, a source in the Kremlin was quoted as saying by the influential Russian daily Kommersant.
Specifically, Russia will open “representations” in the provinces, the newspaper writes.
In effect, the move would amount to Russia establishing de facto inter-state relations with the two provinces, without formally recognizing them.
Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met the Abkhaz and South Ossetian leaders in Moscow.
