UNFPA Launches South Caucasus Regional Project
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced on June 13 about launch of its three-year regional project ? Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in the South Caucasus (RHIYC).
RHIYC, funded by the EU and UNFPA, is a large scale multi partner project, which aims at building national capacities and regional partnerships to improve sexual and reproductive health status of youth in the South Caucasus.
A launch event in Tbilisi on June 13 was attended by officials from the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian Healthcare Ministries, representatives of international organizations, as well as by the First Lady of Georgia Sandra Roelofs.
?Successful implementation of the project will be a step forward towards bringing the Sexual and Reproductive Health (S&RH) services and rights in the South Caucasus closer to international standards. By achieving its goals, the project will assist countries in reaching Millennium Development Goals and contribute to the agenda of the European integration,? a press release issued by the RHIYC reads.
