Saakashvili Says Tense Ties with Russia Temporary
President Saakashvili said on May 9, while addressing the veterans of World War II, that the current tense relations between Georgia and Russia are temporary and “Georgia will find a common language with Russia.”
“Unfortunately, some representatives of this country [Russia] decided to undertake very strict economic measures against Georgia, which aim at aggravating the social conditions of Georgian families… However, I think that this is a temporary measure. I think we will find a common language with any nation – especially with Russia because we jointly fought against Fascism, because we are neighbors, because regardless of the current political situation we are destined to live together in a good neighborhood and normal atmosphere,” the Georgian President said.
During the meeting, which was held in Victory Park in Tbilisi, President Saakashvili congratulated the WWII veterans on Victory Day in Georgian, Russian and Ukrainian.
