Police Claim to Uncover MP Murder Plot
Police arrested on March 15 a person who, according to the Interior Ministry, is suspected of an attempt to mastermind murder of parliamentarian Zurab Jguburia and chief of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz internal affairs department Anzor Margiani.
“We think that a motive behind this attempted crime was that the suspect though he could have become a governor of Kodori Gorge [the only territory in breakaway Abkhazia under the Georgian authorities’ control] if he could get rid of MP Zurab Jguburia and Anzor Margiani, who were allegedly obstacles on his way,” Irakli Kadagidze, Chief of Criminal Police said at a news conference on March 15.
He also said that the suspect should undergo psychological test.
