NATO IPAP Assessment Team Visits Georgia
A group of experts from NATO will pay a fact-finding visit to Georgia on March 6-10 to assess implementation of the country’s commitments undertaken under the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) with the alliance, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
The Georgian authorities hope to accomplish reform targets set by the IPAP this year, which will pave the way towards a NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP).
“I am sure that by the end of this year we will most likely start implementation of the Membership Action Plan with NATO,” Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili said after talks between President Saakashvili and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer in Munich on February 4.
