Russian Officer: Most of Georgian Soldiers Have Left Eredvi
Most of the Georgian troops deployed in the village of Eredvi, in the South Ossetian conflict zone on February 8, have left the site, Rem Akimov, Chief of Staff of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces stationed in the conflict zone, told RIA Novosti news agency late on February 8.
“Six out of ten ‘KAMAZ’ trucks carrying Georgian soldiers were withdrawn from the conflict zone,” he said.
Earlier, on February 8, the Russian and South Ossetian sides reported that a 250-strong unit from the Georgian Ministry was deployed in the village of Eredvi on Wednesday evening. The Georgian side denied this report as “misinformation.”
