Turkey Aims at Boosting Trade with Georgia
Turkey wants to increase its trade volume with Georgia up to USD 2 billion from the current USD 500 million over the next few years, Anadolu news agency reported quoting Turkish Foreign Trade Minister Kursad Tuzmen as saying after talks with visiting Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli on February 4.
He also said that Turkey wants to significantly increase the volume of the activities of Turkish contractor firms in Georgia from the current USD 350 million.
Georgian Prime Minister Nogaideli, who was accompanied by the Energy and Economy Ministers, visited Turkey on February 4-5. Nogaideli discussed bilateral cooperation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan late on February 4.
At a meeting of the Turkish-Georgian Business Council on February 4, PM Nogaideli called on the Turkish businessmen to take a close look at the privatization process in Georgian scheduled this year, especially in the energy sector.
