Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, S.Ossetian Leader Meet in Moscow

According to an information note issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, “talks between Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Karasin and President of South Ossetian Eduard Kokoity were held in the Russian Foreign Ministry on February 1.”

Kokoity and Karasin noted the importance of continuing talks between Tbilisi and Tskhinvali “to develop the joint Georgian-Ossetian program of actions to solve the conflict.”

The sides have also expressed concern regarding “the illegal actions of the Georgian side towards the Russian peacekeeping force overnight on January 31-February 1, which were assessed [by Kokoity and Karasin] as an attempt to discredit the entire peacekeeping operation.”
