Tbilisi Comments on Rejection of S.Ossetian Action Plan by Moscow
The Georgian Foreign Ministry said on December 4 that comments made by the Russian Foreign Ministry over Tbilisi”s Action Plan to solve the South Ossetian conflict “are far from presenting a real picture of the existing situation.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry said on December 2 that Moscow does not support a recently proposed Action Plan by Tbilisi to peacefully solve the South Ossetian conflict because it does not coincide with the “three-stage” peace plan voiced by President Saakashvili last September.
At the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on October 27 Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli presented a plan of action – objectives and steps – that the Georgian authorities intend to undertake to foster a resolution to the South Ossetian conflict in the nearest future so that a final solution can be achieved by the end of 2006.
“The Action Plan submitted by the Georgian Prime-Ministry in October of this year at the Vienna Meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council is based on the Peaceful Initiative, articulated by the President of Georgia at the 59th Session of the UN General Assembly (September 2004) and represents a detailed account of the principles set forth in this initiative,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry”s information note reads.
Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili will push the South Ossetian issue at the OSCE Ministerial Council in Ljubljana, which will be held on December 5-6.
“The Georgian side hopes that the Government of the Russian Federation will support the peaceful plan at the OSCE Ministerial Council Meeting to be held in Ljubljana and will share the consolidated positive approach of the International Community,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
