Saakashvili Visits Ukraine for Democratic Forum

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, accompanied by Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili, left for the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Wednesday to participate in the forum of Community of Democratic Choice (CDC) on December 1-2.


The CDC is a result of a joint declaration signed by the Georgian and Ukrainian Presidents on August 12 in Borjomi, Georgia to create, as they put it, a regional coalition of democratic nations.


The Presidents of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Georgia and Ukraine will participate in the summit.


The Vice-President of Bulgaria, Speaker of the Senate of Poland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary, US Under Secretary of State Paula Dobriansky, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, as well as officials from Turkey and Armenia and representatives from the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe and BSEC will all participate in the two-day forum.
