Three Shortlisted for Public TV Chairman
The Board of Public Broadcasting shortlisted three contenders out of twenty-four competing for the general director position at public television Channel 1 on August 16.
Shortlisted candidates are: Lia Mukhashavria, a lawyer; Sergo Bitsadze and Tamar Kintsurashvili, an ex-member of the Board of Public Broadcasting. This latter is most likely to win the race.
Kintsurashvili, who has already withdrawn her membership from the Board, is a journalist who has led media programs at the human rights NGO Liberty Institute since 2001.
Some participants of the competition have already criticized Kintsurashvili?s decision to run for the general director?s position as ?unethical.?
This is the second competition announced by the Board of Public Broadcasting, as in July the board failed to choose a winner from sixteen candidates. The board is now expected to announce a final decision on August 23.
