First NGO Fair in Georgia
On April 2, 2005 at 12:00 PM at the Expo Georgia Pavilion #1 on 118 Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi, Save the Children with its local partner organization, the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG), will hold an official opening ceremony for the first Civil Society Organization (CSO) Fair in Georgia. The CSO Fair is organized as part of the three-year Citizens Advocate! Program funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Save the Children.
The opening ceremony of the CSO Fair will be attended by USAID Mission Director Denny Robertson; Mayor of Tbilisi Zurab Chiaberashvili; representatives from donor and international organizations; staff from Ministries, Parliament, and other governmental institutions; representatives from the business community; and the general public.
Fifty-five (55) civil society organizations from different regions of Georgia will participate in this two-day event (April 2-3, 2005). Participants will attend exhibitions, panel discussions, and educational presentations about the work of CSOs in Georgia.
A specially-designed Media Center will be available to media to facilitate live broadcasting from the CSO Fair.
The CSO Fair will conclude with an awards ceremony at 6:00 PM on Sunday April 3, 2005. “Friends of Civil Society Development” awards will be given to three individuals who have been exceptionally supportive of the development and strengthening of civil society in Georgia during recent years.
