EU, OSCE Envoys Visit South Ossetia

European Union?s Special Representative to the South Caucasus countries Heikki Talvitie and Head of OSCE Mission to Georgia Roy Reeve held talks with South Ossetian de facto President Eduard Kokoev in Tskhinvali on November 17.

The issue of implementing the November 5 agreement on demilitarization signed by the Georgian Prime Minister and the South Ossetian de facto President in Sochi was discussed during the talks.

?The South Ossetian side is doing its best to stabilize the situation in the conflict zone. We need to implement previously achieved agreements on the pullout of extra troops from the conflict zone,? Kokoev said, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.

De facto Special Affairs Minister Boris Chochiev, who also attended the talks, said that despite the demilitarization attempts, the Georgian Defense Ministry brought extra troops to the Georgian village of Akhalsopeli and opened reservists training field in the village of Dzevera.
