New Leadership’s Opponents Want to Postpone Elections
Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia, one of the leaders of the Shevardnadze’s party, which collapsed after the Shevardnadze’s resignation, said after the talks with the Adjarian leader that January 4 presidential elections should be postponed.
She said that the country is not prepared for holding these elections.
Head of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze also demanded earlier to postpone elections.
Leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili said that he would boycott presidential elections. Shalva Natelashvili also held talks with the Adjarian leader.
