US Envoy Met Opposition Leaders

(Tbilisi, August 8, 2003, Civil Georgia) – US Ambassador to Georgia Richard Miles held meetings with the representatives of Georgian opposition parties to discuss the upcoming parliamentary elections.

On August 6 he met with leaders of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili and National Movement Mikheil Saakashvili.

The issues of preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections and the Parliament-adopted Election Code were discussed during the meetings.

The US Ambassador called the opposition leaders to do their best to prevent ballot fraud and hold fair and democratic elections in Georgia.
