(Tbilisi, July 24, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Today Ambassador of Japan to Georgia and Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fujiwara and six Georgian NGOs signed contracts, which consider funding the projects in social and education spheres.

“The funds allocated by the Japanese Government will be directed to the reconstruction of educational and medical institutions and rendering assistance to the socially unprotected people,” Japanese Ambassador Toshiyuki Fujiwara told Civil Georgia.

The cost of each project is up to USD 80 thousand. The Japanese Ambassador said Japan plans to fund 24 !

“Personally I hail the cooperation with the non-governmental organizations. Heretofore, we had only inter-governmental relationship with Georgia. Now, we have established new relationship with the NGOs, which have closer links with people and represent their interests. So, our aid will be directed to Georgian people,” Toshiyuki Fujiwara said.
