UN Peacekeepers Day Celebrated in Tbilisi

S (Tbilisi, May 29 2003, Civil Georgia) Special event dedicated to the celebration of the UN Peacekeepers’ Day was organized on May 28, 2003 in Tbilisi. The main objective of this event was to organize a meeting of high-grade students of the secondary school with the representatives of Observer Mission in Georgia, who presented information regarding their daily activities in Georgia.

The ceremony was opened by the video tape recorded speech of Mr. Koffi Annan, UN Secretary General. After the opening speech UN observers made an interactive presentation on the mandate and activities of UN.

United Nations Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG), United Nations Association of Georgia (UNA-Georgia) and Open Society Georgia Foundation – Georgian Debates Program were the main organizers of this event. The ceremony was hosted by the Tbilisi-based private secular school “Tsiskari”.
