Shevardnadze Hails US-Russia Cooperation

(Tbilisi, May 25, Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze welcomed common approach of Russia and the United States towards the new threats – terrorism, conflicts, drug trafficking.

Georgian President commented on the meeting of the US and Russian Presidents in Moscow on May 24.

Press secretary of the Georgian President told the reporters on May 24 that Eduard Shevardnadze believes rapprochement of Russian and the US positions in the key issues is of vital importance for Georgia.

“Together, we will work to improve security in Georgia. We will work to help end fighting and achieve a political settlement in Chechnya,” the US President Georgia W. Bush stated during remarks with Russian President Putin at signing of Joint Declaration on May 24 in Moscow.
