Shevardnadze Supports Bill on Return of Illegal Porperty to the State

President Shevardnadze states that he supports the bill on “The Rules of Returning of Illegal and Unproven Porperty to the State”. He said, that the document must be refined and adjusted in order to exclude any contradictions and guaranty presumption of innosence. President dedicated rather large part of his Monday radio interview to this subject.

On August 8 Governmnet’s Meeting Justce Minister Mikheil Saakashvili presented the bill, under which governmental high-level authorities must return illegal property to the state. The bill caused objections of the majority of the Government. Saakashvili has directly accused Ministers of State Security and Economy, Industry and Trade and Head of the City Police in corruption.
