Water Supply Suspended ? Tskhinvali Says

The supply of potable water has been suspended to the breakaway South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, secessionist authorities said on July 10.

?The reasons remain unclear, because the Georgian side is preventing Ossetian workers from inspecting the pipeline,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee said.

Officials in Tbilisi, however, said the Georgian side had nothing to do with the water shortage problem in Tskhinvali.

A meeting was planned in the OSCE field office in Tskhinvali on July 10 to discuss issues relating to resolving the water supply problems in the region. The South Ossetians, however, failed to show up, according to the Office of Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues.
