Georgia’s Cooperation with Iran Poses no Threat to US

(Tbilisi, July 17, 2003, Civil Georgia) – (Tbilisi, July 17, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The visit of Georgian Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania to Iran does not contradict the interests of the United States, Spokesman for the Security Ministry Nika Laliashvili told Civil Georgia.

During a two-day visit to Iran on July 14-15 the Georgian Security Minister held meetings with the Security and Interior Ministers, Chief of Intelligence Service and Vice President of Iran.

He said no documents were signed during the meetings, since it was a working visit. The sides agreed to cooperate in combating drug-trafficking and terrorism.

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Kakha Sikharulidze also paid visit to Iran this week. The issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the visit.
