Inmates on Mass Hunger Strike

(Tbilisi. May 1, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Inmates of the Georgian prisons went on hunger strike demanding reconsideration of their cases in the court.

According to the Georgian Justice Ministry up to 4,500 inmates are on hunger strike, which claim that their cases were investigated illegally.

The prisoners demand from the authorities to form a special commission, which will work on reconsideration of their cases.
