Parliament Approves New Chief Auditor 

The Parliament of Georgia approved Tsotne Kavlashvili as the new head of the State Audit Office for a term of five years. 87 MPs voted in favor and one against the new chief auditor.

Tsotne Kavelashvili, 39, who was nominated by Parliament Chairperson Shalva Papuashvili on September 16, replaced Irakli Mekvabishvili whose term in office expired today.

“I understand the huge responsibility I will have to assume once approved. I will spare no efforts to make this important and successful institution even more effective and successful,” Tsotne Kavlashvili said.

Since 2006, Kavlashvili held different positions at the Ministry of Finance. Since 2015, he served as the Deputy Finance Minister.
