Scheffer’s Visit ‘Highly Successful’ ? Saakashvili Says

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer’s visit to Georgia on October 4 was ?much more successful than I expected,? President Saakashvili told his cabinet.

?We should redouble our efforts in implementing on-going democratic reforms,? he said on October 4. ?We still have much to do? This is our homework.?

?Our goal is to move towards the peaceful unification of our country, as well as towards Euro-Atlantic integration.?

He also said that ?certain people were irritated? by Georgia?s success. ?When Georgia?s detractors are nervous, it means that Georgia is on the right path,? Saakashvili said. ?My duty is not to calm them down. My duty is to make them even more nervous.?
