UNAG’s One More Step towards the Development of NGO Sector in Georgia

On  January 24-26, 2005 the United Nations Association of Georgia have organized the three day training on NGO Organizational Management and Strategy Development in Batumi, Georgia. The training was arranged in the framework of recently run project “New Adjara- New Challenges” supported by the Catholic Relief Service (CRS). 

The three day training package on NGO Organizational Development encompassed information provision to training participants on organizational management and development, project design and implementation, team work, leadership, mass media communication etc.

The training was facilitated by professional trainers from the Georgian NGO – Center for Change and Conflicts Management – “Partners Georgia”. Up to 20 representatives from Batumi based NGOs were invited to participate in the training.

Noteworthy, the “New Adjara-New Challenges” is the first big project oriented on the civil society development in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The project aims at increased participation of the third sector organizations in democratic processes and supports them in overcoming pressing local problems, which they often face.

The Training on the NGO Organizational Management and Strategy Development will be followed by the trainings oriented on advocacy and freedom of information, as well as round tables with participation of mass media and governmental representatives.

Within the framework of the project, up to 5 small-scale advocacy campaigns designed by local NGOs will be supported. Internship program for local NGOs will be also launched in spring 2005. 

By arranging the training UNA-Georgia renovates its activities in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, where the operations of the organization have been stopped for two years.
