CEC Sets Date of Votes’ Recounting

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 27, 2002) – After the pressure from the Parliamentary investigative commission Central Election Commission (CEC) has set a date when the votes’ recounting process will start.

According to Jumber Lominadze, Chairman of the CEC the recounting of votes’ cast during Tbilisi city council elections will start on July 30.

In June the district court of Tbilisi ruled positively on the National Movement’s appeal to recount the votes because of the numerous procedural elections that occurred during the locals in Tbilisi.

The Finance Ministry should transfer 74 thousand Lari to the CEC for carrying out votes’ recounting.
