Georgian, Turkish Defense Ministers Meet in Istanbul
Georgian Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli met her Turkish counterpart İsmet Yılmaz in Istanbul on Thursday.
Khidasheli is in Istanbul for a trilateral meeting of defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey – a format, which was launched in August, 2014.
The Georgian Defense Ministry said that the two ministers discussed security situation in the region.
“The Defense Minister of Turkey provided to his Georgia counterpart detailed information about recent developments in Russia-Turkey [relations] and thanked the Georgian side for its support and solidarity,” the Georgian Ministry of Defense said.
Minister Khidasheli said that the two countries will work on joint training and educational programs.
“We have agreed that time has come to move our bilateral cooperation into the phase of active and result-oriented cooperation,” she said.
