Relief activities of TRCS

You are kindly asked to be informed about the relief efforts Turkish Red Crescent has launched so far for the crisis occurring in  South Ossetia. As of 10 August, 2008 TRCS’ relief team, consisting of 5 staff  and, 2 trailers which carry relief items of:

– 160 tents,
– 2000 blankets,
– 150 portable beds and
– 1000 bottled water (1,5 lt) and
– a communication vehicle, crossed into Georgia.

Turkish Red Crescent has also sent a field hospital, 140 tonnes of food and 1700 kitchen sets  to the border between Turkey and Georgia and the said items are waiting to be deployed to the region so as to help affected people. Please also note that TRCS relief team is closely monitoring the crisis in the conflicting zone, will, as soon as possible, start distributing needed relief items to the affected population in coordination with the Georgian Red Cross and is ready to expand our aid efforts throughout the region.
