NATO Raises Georgia at Meeting with Russia
Although some NATO defense ministers raised Georgia, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said nothing on the matter, Robert Gates, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, said on June 14.
He was speaking with journalists in Brussels after a Meeting of the NATO-Russia Council at the level of Ministers of Defence.
“Several NATO ministers raised developments in Abkhazia; they expressed concern over Russia’s behavior,” Gates said. “Minister Serdyukov did not mention Georgia in his remarks and did not return back to the subject after the allied ministers spoke.”
