Saakashvili to Discuss South Ossetia in the US

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili left early on August 4 for the United States with an unofficial visit.

He is planning to hold unofficial talks with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.

At a news briefing on August 3 President Saakashvili ruled out a possible meeting with U.S. President George Bush. ?He [Georgia Bush] is not in the United States,? the President stated.

The recent developments in Georgia?s breakaway South Ossetia, as well as other issues of bilateral relations will be discussed during the talks with the top U.S. officials.
