PM Claims Decrease in Inflation
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli told cabinet members at a session on September 6 that inflation in August has decreased from 6,4%, which was reported in July, to 6%.
?This was made possible as a result of very effective measures carried out by the government and the National Bank [of Georgia],? PM Nogaideli said.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on August 18 that inflation accelerated in Georgia to 14,5% by the end of July, which is well above planned targets and ?poses a serious risk to macroeconomic stability.?
