Abkhaz, S.Ossetian Officials in Moscow for Parliamentary Hearings
Abkhaz and South Ossetian delegations are in Moscow to attend Russian parliamentary hearings on the unrecognized republics scheduled for March 13.
The seven-member delegation from Abkhazia, according to Apsnipress, includes Parliamentary Chairman Nugzar Ashuba and Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba. The South Ossetian delegation, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee, includes the speaker of the breakaway region’s parliament, Iuriem Dzitsoity, chief South Ossetian negotiator Boris Chochiev and Foreign Minister Murat Jioev.
Russia’s lower house of Parliament, the State Duma, will discuss the situation in the breakaway regions and the possibility of recognising their independence.
