Russian Reports: ‘Georgian Spy’ Arrested in North Ossetia

A man allegedly recruited by Georgian special services to carry out terrorist acts in breakaway South Ossetia has been arrested in Russia, Gazeta.ru reported via Interfax news agency on February 29.

Martin Dzagoev, according to the report, was arrested by the North Ossetian section of the Russian Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service (FSS). “He is a resident of South Ossetia and was internationally wanted,” a North Ossetian FSS officer was quoted as saying. He also claimed that Dzagoev had already admitted being recruited by Georgian special services and the Tbilisi-loyal provisional South Ossetian administration, led by Dimitri Sanakoev. “He was offered a bounty for terrorist acts carried against the peaceful population of South Ossetia,” the unnamed officer said.
