Abkhazia Imposes Moratorium on Death Penalty

The Parliament of breakaway Abkhazia approved a draft law imposing a moratorium on the death penalty, Apsnypress news agency reported on January 12.

According to the same report, the moratorium on the death penalty has been acting in Abkhazia since 1993, however it is only now being legally formalized.
